About Me

PatEUtah
This profile shows up on two blogs, one about my gymnastics competition in the 60's and one about a Victorian home my wife and I have been remodeling since 2004. I contracted polio in 1949 in both legs but due to great docs and supportive parents I was encouraged to participate in sports. Gymnastics was the best fit and due to a great coach in high school and college I had a very successful career: a state champion in 2 events in high school and a conference champion in the Big 8 and 2 8th place finishes in the NCAA. I was also privileged to coach a state championship high school team. My wife and I have been married for 41 years and like many families over the years have had to be frugal with our funds. That meant learning lots of practical skills like painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Those skills combined with a love for all things antique have caused us to seek out older, affordable homes that we could fix up ourselves. In 2004 we started the biggest project of all, restoring an 1892 Victorian and doing as much of the work as we could ourselves along with a lot of help from our daughters and sons-in-law.
